The Image:

After five long years of hard work, artist Michael Kierstead finished The Jam Part I: A History. The 8' x 4' image incorporated 113 separately drawn portraits of the classic rock greats.
An undertaking of this magnitude has never before been attempted in the modern day. By virtue of its theme and size, it is an unprecedented work of art.

Studying the print, you’ll see that those who played together are touching, and strands of musical influence can be traced through the artwork. The size of the individual portraits, their placement, and the detail in and around them are all significant and deliberate on the part of the artist.

The Jam’s border symbolizes the different aspects of the Rock & Roll lifestyle with poignancy and humor. If you look closely, you’ll even see some album artwork. The original was purchased by one of the Beatles, and the print now stands at 20" x 40".
